Show Your Work: Demonstrating the Effectiveness of Ethics Education Programming

Ethics Center Directors Consortium, 35th Annual Association for Practical and Professional Ethics Conference

St. Louis, MO, March 5, 2026

This short talk for the APPE Ethics Center Directors Consortium is about how to demonstrate the value of ethics education without pretending we can always “measure” everything cleanly. I start with a simple premise: your audience matters, because administrators, donors, and peers are asking different questions. From there, I lay out a scalable approach to evidence, beginning with stories and testimonials gathered intentionally, then moving toward more structured feedback and, when appropriate, systematic assessment. The goal is sustainable reporting habits that make your impact legible year after year.
